Fifteenth Sunday of Pentecost
1 Thessalonians 1:1-10; Luke 7:36-50
O God, who formed us in Your image,
Your Son has brought us true salvation,
bringing divine gifts of compassion.
You came in power and the Spirit,
and yet in humility of form,
forgiving sins to those with true faith.
In a mercy of forgiveness, Lord,
You became for our sakes mortal man,
descending into darkness of tomb;
You freed the just held captive by death,
establishing peace in the dark realms,
assembling the people to praise You,
that from them Your word may go forth,
that nations may turn from their idols
and be delivered from coming wrath.
