Poem a Day VIII

The moon is maddening with its light --
O moon, I beg you, madden me! --
and casting shadows through the night

upon the cresting sands of shore,
now battered by the rumbling roar
of night, that tumbles like the sea.

In shadows, dark as depth of cave,
I'll dwell as though at hearth and home,
and dip my fingers in the foam
which moonlight sends upon the wave!
