Easter Eve
by Richard Charles JacksonThe almond trees are blooming now afresh,
White doves are cooing to their darling mates,
The fig-tree nestles by the golden gates,
The fragrant zephyrs laden are afresh,
As lilies sweet are clothed, and afresh
The wayside flow'ret springs to life and light,
As song-birds warble by the roses white;
And all the earth is coming forth afresh.
The cactus now is shedding crimson bloom,
As pow'r benign dispels surrounding gloom;
The pomegranate is purpling in the sun,
As angels sing "GOD's Blessed Will is done."
Come forth to meet the SAVIOUR-SON of GOD!
To worship CHRIST, the Everlasting LORD.
